Disposer Repair in Houston

We repair GE disposers that hum without turning, jam, leak from the bottom or side, or smell. We check the motor, the flywheel, the seals and the drain connections under your sink.

01What goes wrong

Common disposer problems we fix

In the order we see them across Houston homes.

01

Hums but the blades do not turn

02

Water leaking from beneath the unit

03

Runs very slowly or trips the breaker

04

Sink drains slowly or backs up

05

Odor does not clear with cleaning

06

Loud grinding of metal on metal

A GE disposer grinds food scraps with a motor-driven flywheel and impellers inside a sealed housing under the sink. A flange holds it in the drain opening, a gasket seals it, and a drain elbow carries waste away. Some models include a splash guard and a cord or hardwired connection.

In Houston, grease and starchy food are the usual problem, and warm kitchens speed odor. Hard water scale can build on the housing and the seals, and a leak often starts where metal and gasket meet. Units that sit unused during a long absence can seize from corrosion.

On a visit we first make sure power is off, then check the jam, the motor and the overload reset, inspect the flange and the seals, and test the drain path. We tell you plainly when a replacement makes more sense than a repair.

05Disposer questions
My disposer hums but does not spin. What does that mean?

Usually a jam or a stuck flywheel, though a failing motor can behave the same. With power off, many units can be freed from underneath with a hex key. We confirm which it is before replacing anything.

Where is my disposer leaking from?

Leaks come from the sink flange, the drain connection or a cracked housing. Only the last is a disposer replacement, so we trace the water to its source first.

Why does my sink back up even with a working disposer?

The disposer can run while the drain beyond it is partly blocked. We check the trap and the line, and tell you if the problem sits with the plumbing rather than the unit.
