What F0, F1, F6, F7 means
Several GE, Profile and Café ranges and wall ovens with electronic oven controls use F0, F1, F6 and F7 as one group of codes. They usually point to the keypanel, the touch pad assembly on the front of the control. When one appears the display shows the F-code and the oven may stop responding to pad presses or refuse to heat. These codes are often cured only by replacing the keypanel itself, though a quick power interruption is worth trying first.
Common causes of F0, F1, F6, F7
- Keypanel reading pad signals incorrectly
- Ribbon connection between the keypanel and the control board
- Moisture or heat damage at the front of the control
- Control board that the keypanel reports to
1. Switch the oven's circuit breaker or fuse off for a minute or two. 2. Restore the power. 3. Check whether the code has cleared and the pads respond. 4. If the code persists, stop using the oven and have it serviced. 5. Keep water and cleaner off the control panel in the meantime.
- A code that survives a power interruption tells us the keypanel or its connection needs testing.
- We check whether the keypanel or the board behind it is involved before any part is ordered.
- Opening the control means working near line voltage, so it is left to us.
Other Range codes
Which of F0, F1, F6 and F7 do I have?
Read the display. Each shows its own letter and number, but on these ranges they are grouped because they point to the same area, the keypanel. We confirm which one by testing the control.
Will turning the breaker off for a minute fix it?
Sometimes. Removing power for a minute or two lets the control restart. If the code is still there after you restore power, the keypanel usually needs service.
Do you need to replace the whole control?
Often the keypanel is the part involved, not the whole control. We confirm that first and give you a written price before ordering anything. Our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
