What PAn tESt means
On GE Profile induction ranges with the Pan Compatibility Test (PHS700 family, 2021 and newer), such as the PHS700AYFS and PHS700AYBS, PAn tESt means the range is in test mode. You enter it by holding 7 and 2 for 3 seconds. The results are bESt for highly compatible, Good for compatible, FinE for compatible but another combination may be better, Poor for slightly compatible and bAd for not compatible.
Common causes of PAn tESt
- Pan material not well suited to induction
- Pan too small or warped
- Pan placed off center
1. For a Poor or bAd result, see Cookware for Induction Cooktops in your owner's manual. 2. Press Cancel to exit the test mode. 3. Try a flat-bottomed pan with a magnetic base. 4. Center the pan on the element and test again.
- If a known good pan reads bAd, whether the element or its sensor reads wrong stays unknown
- We test the element; a test result on an unsuitable pan is not a repair

What does PAn tESt mean on my induction range?
The range is in Pan Compatibility Test mode, which rates how well your pan works on that element. You started it by holding 7 and 2 for 3 seconds.
What do the test results mean?
bESt is highly compatible, Good is compatible, FinE is compatible but another combination may do better, Poor is slightly compatible, and bAd is not compatible with the cooktop.
How do I leave the test mode?
Press Cancel. You can then cook normally, preferably with a pan that scored bESt or Good, which will heat faster and more evenly than one that scored Poor.
