What 1 / 2 means

On GE dryers from 2019 on, a 1 or a 2 in the display means the dryer needs its personality setting selected. Until it is chosen, the dryer may not turn on or tumble. The setting tells the control whether it is running as an electric dryer or a gas dryer. Choose 1 for electric dryers and 2 for gas dryers. You see the single digit on the display where the time normally appears, usually after a new install or a control reset.
