What 01 / 02 / 03 means
On GE Profile top-load dryers PTD60 and PTD90 (2020 and newer), the Vent Health test is started by holding Time and Level for 3 seconds, closing the door and pressing Start. The result shows as a number. 01 means the house vent is clean and normal. 02 means the vent may need attention and its condition may affect performance. 03 means Vent Blocked, so the house vent is highly restricted and affecting performance. On some models the test runs only through the SmartHQ app. Houston homes with long attic runs often land on 02.
Common causes of 01 / 02 / 03
- Lint buildup in the house duct
- Long vent run or many bends
- Outside damper not opening fully
1. Note the number: 01, 02 or 03. 2. On 02 or 03, clean the lint filter and the vent from the dryer to the outside hood. 3. Make any needed adjustments to the house vent, such as straightening a kinked duct. 4. Run the Vent Health test again with an empty drum.
- A 03 that stays after cleaning means we check the whole run for hidden crushed sections, which are common in attics.
- If the house vent is fine and the dryer still runs poorly, we test the blower and heat path.
- The price is given in writing before work starts, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

What do 01, 02 and 03 mean after the Vent Health test?
01 means the vent is clean and normal. 02 means it may need attention. 03 means it is highly restricted and affecting performance. Clean and adjust the vent for 02 or 03.
How do I start the test?
Hold Time and Level for three seconds, close the door and press Start. On some models the test is available only in the SmartHQ app instead of the control panel.
Does 02 mean I must call someone?
Not necessarily. Cleaning the lint filter and the duct often brings it back to 01. If it stays at 02 or 03 after cleaning, we look at the vent run itself.
