What F1, F2, F3, F4 means
On GE Profile and Café Advantium speedcook ovens, both the 120 V over-the-range PSA and CSA models and the 240 V wall ovens, the F1 to F4 codes name a sensor or touch pad circuit. F1 is an open thermal sensor, F2 a shorted thermal sensor, F3 a shorted touch pad panel and F4 an open or shorted humidity sensor. The oven stops or refuses to start. Models include the PSA2201RSS, PSB9120SFSS and PWB7030SLSS.
Common causes of F1, F2, F3, F4
- Thermal sensor circuit open (F1) or shorted (F2)
- Touch pad panel shorted (F3), including moisture on the panel
- Humidity sensor circuit open or shorted (F4)
- Connector or wiring at the control
1. Press CLEAR/OFF or CANCEL and program the control again. 2. If the code comes back, turn off power at the household breaker for a minute or two (30 seconds on a 240 V oven), restore it and program again. 3. Wipe the touch pad dry if it was cleaned recently. 4. If the code returns once more, stop using the oven and call us.
- Which sensor circuit is open or shorted stays unknown from the code alone
- We test the sensor circuits and the touch pad connection before ordering any part
Other Microwave & Advantium codes
What is the difference between F1 and F2 on an Advantium?
F1 means the thermal sensor circuit reads open and F2 means it reads shorted. Both point to the same sensor circuit, but in opposite conditions, which is why the testing steps differ.
Is F3 always a bad touch pad?
Not always. F3 names a shorted touch pad panel, and moisture on the panel can look the same. Dry it thoroughly and try again before assuming the panel has failed.
Will cutting power at the breaker clear these codes?
It can clear a one-time glitch. If the code returns after you restore power and program again, the sensor circuit really needs testing, and continuing to use the oven is not advised.
