What F32 means

F32 on GE Profile GeoSpring PF and PH series heat pump water heaters from 2025 is a general tank temperature failure involving T1 or T2. Unlike F30 and F31, which name one sensor, F32 says only that one of the two tank sensors is giving a bad reading. The control then cannot tell how hot the tank really is. Owners may notice inconsistent water temperature or a heater that stops or limits heating.

Common causes of F32

  • T1 tank sensor
  • T2 tank sensor
  • Sensor wiring or connector
  • Control board sensor inputs
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Write the code and the model number down from the label. 2. Confirm the water heater breaker is on. 3. Keep covers closed, because both tank sensors are inside the unit. 4. Call us and mention that F32 appears, so we know to look at both tank sensors and their plugs.

! Why to stop there
  • Only testing shows whether T1, T2 or both are bad.
  • We check the wiring and connectors in case a loose plug mimics a sensor failure.
  • We replace only the sensor that tests bad and quote it first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F32F32 questions
Why does F32 not say which sensor?

The code groups the two tank sensors together. We check each sensor circuit on site to find the one that is out of range, rather than guessing from the code.

Could both sensors be bad?

It is possible but unusual. More often one sensor or its connector is the cause, and we confirm that with testing before replacing anything and before giving you a price.

Is hot water safe to use?

With care. The control may not see the real tank temperature, so test the water at the tap first and keep young children away from hot faucets until it is repaired.
