What F62 means
On GE Profile GeoSpring hybrid heat pump water heaters made from June 2025, such as the GEH50DEEJSC, F62 means the water entering the tank is too hot. The heat pump works best on cooler incoming water, so when the inlet water is already hot the control flags it. This often comes from a pre-heating arrangement ahead of the water heater, such as solar or a recirculation loop. You will see the code while the unit holds back.
Common causes of F62
- Pre-heated inlet water from another source ahead of the tank
- Recirculation or return line sending hot water back
- Inlet temperature sensor reading incorrectly
1. Reduce any pre-heating of the water that feeds the heater. 2. Check whether a solar loop or recirculating line is sending warm water into the inlet. 3. Let the unit sit and the water settle. 4. If F62 stays on, call us.
- If nothing is pre-heating the supply and F62 shows, the inlet sensor needs testing.
- We check the plumbing arrangement and the sensor reading together.
- Altering plumbing near the heater is best left to us or a plumber.
Other Water Heater codes
Why is the incoming water too hot?
Something may be warming it before it reaches the water heater, such as a solar loop, a recirculation line or another heat source ahead of the tank. The heat pump works best with cooler water.
Can I fix it myself?
You can reduce the pre-heating if you know how your system is set up. If you are unsure, or F62 remains after you do, call us and we will look at the plumbing arrangement and the inlet sensor.
Does the 30-day warranty apply to this repair?
Our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty, and you receive a written price before any work begins. If the cause turns out to be the plumbing layout, we tell you plainly.
