What Temperature display flashing means

On GE Zoneline PTAC units in the AZ45 and AZ65 series, a flashing temperature display means the control panel has been locked out, a setting common in hotels. Settings cannot be changed while it is locked. Pressing any key lights the MODE LED and the locked temperature flashes 5 times, then the panel goes to sleep. The same flashing means something different on AZ41 and AZ61 units, so the platform matters.

Common causes of Temperature display flashing

  • Panel waking briefly from sleep when a key is pressed

Why does my Zoneline temperature keep flashing?

On AZ45 and AZ65 units it means the control panel is locked out. Any key press lights the MODE LED and the locked temperature flashes five times before the panel sleeps.

How do I unlock it?

Press and hold DISPLAY SHOW/HIDE for 10 seconds. The panel should then accept setting changes again, and you can adjust the temperature and mode as you normally would.

Does AZ41 or AZ61 flash for the same reason?

No. On AZ41 and AZ61 the flashing signals a possible unit problem, so check your model number before deciding which page applies to your Zoneline unit.
