What Leak Detected means

On GE and GE Profile bottom-freezer refrigerators with the RPWFE filter and an LCD touch screen (the PFE28P and PYE22P series), Leak Detected means the RFID filter system found a leak at the filter, or a wrong or non-genuine filter. The dispenser shuts off. The message appears on the touch screen, and it can be set off by a filter that is not installed correctly as well as by actual dripping.

Common causes of Leak Detected

  • Leak at or around the filter
  • Filter not installed with the front label facing forward
  • Non-genuine or wrong filter

1. Check for leaks on and around the filter; replacing the filter resolves most cases. 2. Install it so the front label faces forward and Back faces the housing. 3. Use a genuine RPWFE. 4. Wipe the area dry. 5. If the message persists, call us.

What does Leak Detected mean on my touch screen?

The filter system found a leak at the filter, or a wrong or non-genuine filter. The dispenser shuts off. It can also be triggered by a filter that is not fully seated.

How do I install the filter correctly?

Put it in so the front label faces forward and Back faces the housing. Use a genuine RPWFE. Take your time to align the label as described.

What if the message stays?
