What Flashing power setting means
On GE Profile and Café induction ranges such as the PHS930SLSS, PHB920SJSS, PHS700AYFS and CHS900P2MS1, surface units that do not work properly, or a flashing power setting or cooktop indicator, point to one of four things. The cookware is not induction-compatible, the pan is too small for the element, the pan is not centered, or the cooktop is hot. The range is protecting itself and is usually fine.
Common causes of Flashing power setting
- Cookware not induction-compatible
- Pan too small for the element
- Pan not centered on the element
- High cooktop temperature
- Pan boiled dry
1. Check the pan with a magnet; it should stick to the bottom. 2. Use a flat induction pan that meets the element's minimum size. 3. Center the pan on the element. 4. If the cooktop is hot, let the internal fan cool it and check whether the pan boiled dry.
- If a good pan on a cool cooktop still makes it flash, whether the element or its sensor is to blame stays unknown
- We test the element and the cooktop circuit before quoting a repair

Why does my induction burner flash?
The range found the pan unsuitable or the cooktop too hot. Check the pan with a magnet, make sure it is large enough, and center it on the element.
Why is the fan running after I turn it off?
The internal fan cools the cooktop. Let it finish, and check whether a pan boiled dry, because an empty pan overheats very quickly on induction.
Is my induction range broken if it flashes?
Usually not. A magnet test and a properly sized, centered pan solve most cases. If a known good pan still flashes on a cool surface, call us.
