What Wi-Fi icon flashing / solid means
On GE, GE Profile and Café smart ranges and wall ovens with built-in Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi icon shows how app setup is going. A flashing icon means the oven could not join because the home network name or password was entered incorrectly. A solid icon with the SmartHQ app still unable to connect means the app cannot locate the appliance in the cloud. The icon is a connection status, not a cooking or heating problem, so baking and broiling keep working normally while the oven is not paired.
Common causes of Wi-Fi icon flashing / solid
- Home network name or password typed incorrectly during setup
- Router out of range or on a network the oven cannot join
- SmartHQ app session that has not refreshed after the oven connected
- Remote Enable setup mode that was not started before pairing
1. If the icon is flashing, re-enter your home network name and password in the app. 2. If the icon is solid but the app cannot connect, close the SmartHQ app completely and open it again. 3. To start over, hold the Remote Enable pad until the Wi-Fi icon flashes, then repeat setup. 4. Keep the phone close to the range and on the same home network while pairing.
- If setup keeps failing with correct credentials, we check whether the problem is the range's Wi-Fi module or your router settings.
- We confirm the range cooks and heats normally so a connection issue is not mistaken for a control problem.
Other Range codes
Does a flashing Wi-Fi icon mean my range is broken?
No. It only means the network name or password was not accepted during setup. The range still bakes, broils and heats the cooktop normally while it waits to be connected.
What does a solid icon with no app connection mean?
The range joined your network, but the SmartHQ app cannot find it yet. Closing and reopening the app is the first step before repeating setup from the beginning.
How do I restart Wi-Fi setup on the range?
Hold the Remote Enable pad until the Wi-Fi icon flashes, then follow the app prompts again. Have your home network name and password ready so you can enter them carefully the second time.
