What Empty Tank means
On the GE 24-inch ventless condenser dryer GFT14, such as the GFT14ESSMWW, the Empty Tank light means the tank that collects the water pulled from your clothes is full. The dryer will not operate until the tank is emptied and the indicator is cleared. If the tank overfills during a cycle, the cycle stops. You see the light on, the drum idle and the clothes still damp.
Common causes of Empty Tank
- Condensate tank full
- Tank not seated fully after emptying
- Drain hose not connected if you use the drain hose option
1. Pull out the water tank and carry it level to a sink. 2. Empty it and slide it back in until it seats. 3. Press Start. The light turns off and the cycle resumes. 4. If you would rather skip emptying, install the drain hose so water leaves on its own.
- If the tank is empty and seated but the light stays on, we check the level sensing circuit for the tank.
- A drain hose that is installed but kinked can also back water up into the tank, and we trace it.
- You get a written price before any work, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Dryer codes
How often will I need to empty the GFT14 tank?
The tank fills as the dryer removes water from your loads, so heavy loads fill it faster. Empty it after each load or whenever the light comes on. A drain hose removes the chore.
Why did the cycle stop mid-load?
Overfilling the tank stops the cycle so water cannot spill. Empty the tank, seat it, and press Start. The light clears and the cycle picks up where it paused.
Does a ventless dryer still need cleaning?
Yes. The lint filter and the condenser area still collect lint, and a clean path helps the dryer remove water faster. Check the filter after every load.
