What F15 means
On 2025 and newer GE Profile GeoSpring PF and PH heat pump water heaters, F15 is the fan failure code. The fan pulls room air across the evaporator coil so the heat pump can absorb heat. If the control sees that the fan is not running as expected, it shows F15 and limits heat pump operation. Owners notice little or no air movement at the top of the unit, slower recovery, and more reliance on the electric elements.
Common causes of F15
- Fan motor or its connector
- Fan blade blocked or rubbing
- Control board fan output
- Airflow restriction or dust buildup
1. Write down the code and model number. 2. Look for anything blocking the air inlet or outlet and move it away. 3. If your unit has a removable air filter, clean it. 4. Do not put anything into the fan opening. Call us to check the fan.
- A fan that is slowed by dust is different from a failed motor, and we tell them apart on site.
- The fan connection and control output are checked before we order parts.
- We quote the price in writing and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Water Heater codes
Where is the fan?
It sits inside the upper heat pump section of the unit, behind covers. You should not open it. We access it safely and check it as part of the repair.
Will cleaning the filter clear F15?
It may help if dust was the cause, but the code usually points to the fan itself not performing as expected. We confirm after the check.
Is hot water still available?
Yes in most cases, because the electric elements can heat the tank. It will cost more to run and recover more slowly until the fan is fixed.
Still seeing F15?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
