What F43 means
F43 on GE Profile GeoSpring PF and PH heat pump water heaters from 2025 on means the Leak Detect Module has sensed a water leak. The module sits where water would collect if the tank, a fitting or the condensate system leaked. When it reports water, the control shows F43 and may shut heating down to limit damage. You may see water on the floor, a damp pan, or just the code with no visible puddle.
Common causes of F43
- Leak at a tank fitting or pipe connection
- Condensate line backing up or leaking
- Tank leak
- Leak Detect Module reading wet
1. Look around and under the unit for water. 2. If you see a leak, switch off the breaker and close the cold water supply valve to the heater. 3. Do not touch any wet electrical parts. 4. Dry the area, inspect for the source and repair the leak, then call us to check the unit.
- The source of the water decides everything, so finding it is our first job.
- A module that is wet is different from a module that has failed, and we tell them apart.
- If the tank itself leaks, we explain replacement options and give a written price.
Other Water Heater codes
Where does the water come from?
It may be a loose pipe fitting, a condensate line problem, or the tank. The Leak Detect Module only tells us water is present, so we trace the source on site.
Can I silence F43 by drying the area?
Drying may clear the reading, but it does not fix a leak. If water keeps returning, there is a source that must be repaired before the unit is run normally.
Is it safe to run the unit?
Not while there is water around it. Turn off the breaker, shut the cold supply valve, and let us inspect before it is powered again.
