What 1 means
On the earlier GE Zoneline AZ90 and AZ91 single-package vertical units, such as the AZ91H09D2C and AZ90E09D2C, code 1 means a front panel button has been held down for more than 20 seconds. The control ignores that switch input until the button is released. The four-digit display shows the code in the left two digits and a history count in the right two. The newer AZ95 generation uses code 1 for the inside fan instead.
Common causes of 1
- Front panel button physically stuck or pressed
- Keypad pushed in by dirt, a spill or sticky residue
- Keypad switch sending a constant signal
1. Press ENTER to bring up the stored error codes, then SCROLL to step through them. 2. Look at the buttons for one that sits lower than the others or feels stuck. 3. Press each button once and let go so it springs back. 4. Wipe the panel gently with a slightly damp cloth, keeping moisture out of the gaps. 5. To clear the history, hold ENTER and SCROLL together for 3 to 6 seconds.
- A button held down by grime and a switch that has failed electrically give the same code.
- We test each key and see whether the code returns after cleaning.
- You get a written price first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers our repair.
Other Room Air Conditioner codes
Does code 1 stop the unit from running?
Not by itself. Only the stuck button's input is ignored, so the rest of the panel and the unit's operation can carry on. Clearing the stuck button restores normal use.
What does the number on the right side of the display mean?
The right two digits are a history count, showing how many times that code has been recorded. The left two digits are the code itself.
Is this the same code 1 as on newer Zoneline units?
No. On the newer AZ95 line code 1 is an inside fan error. The AZ90 and AZ91 generation uses it for the front panel buttons.
