What 13 means
On the current GE Zoneline AZ95 single-package vertical unit (AZ95E and AZ95H), code 13 is a heater airflow error. The control does not see the airflow it needs to run the electric heating elements, so resistance heating is not available. Other functions, such as cooling and fan, can still run. Guests will notice weak or no heat in cold weather. The older AZ90 and AZ91 generation has no matching code 13 on this list.
Common causes of 13
- Low airflow across the heating elements
- Blocked front grille or dirty filter
- Inside fan not delivering enough air
1. Press and hold MODE, then press AUX, to read stored entries; -- means none. 2. Press AUX when you want them erased; other keys exit and the entries stay. 3. Clear furniture, curtains or bedding from the front grille. 4. Run the fan alone and confirm air is coming out. 5. Try heating again, and report a return of code 13 without opening the unit.
- Low airflow and a sensing problem can both stop the heater from being allowed.
- We check the fan, the air path and the airflow sensing.
- The price is given in writing first, and we back repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Room Air Conditioner codes
Why is there no electric heat with code 13?
The control will not energize the heating elements unless it sees enough airflow. That protects the unit from overheating. Cooling and fan operation are separate from the heater.
Will cooling still work?
Generally yes. Code 13 is specific to the heater, so cooling and fan operation can continue. Pushing the code aside by clearing it will not restore the heat.
Is it urgent in winter?
For a guest room or resident unit, yes, since the heater is unavailable. Report it so the airflow can be checked promptly. Winter guests will feel the loss most.
Still seeing 13?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
