What 17 means

On GE Zoneline single-package vertical units of the AZ90/AZ91 generation, code 17 means the equipment does not meet the minimum configuration the control requires. The compressor must be enabled and at least 2 fan speeds must be available, and one of those is missing. The unit may then fail to start cooling or heating properly. The display shows 17 on the left with the history count on the right.

Why does my Zoneline show 17 after new control work?

The control checks that the compressor is enabled and that at least 2 fan speeds exist. If the configuration was not set to match the unit after the work, it logs code 17 as soon as it checks.

Is code 17 a weather problem?

No. Unlike code 16, it has nothing to do with outdoor temperature. It describes how the unit is set up and what the control is allowed to run, so waiting for different weather will not help.

Can clearing the history fix code 17?

Clearing removes only the stored entry. If the configuration still falls short of the minimum, the code will log again the next time the control checks, usually the next time the unit tries to start.
