What Bucket Full / Empty means
On GE dehumidifiers from about 2012 onward, such as the APEL70, APER50, APHR50 and ADHR35 series, the Bucket Full light is an indicator rather than an error code. It blinks when the bucket is full, has been removed, or is not seated in the right position, and the unit will not run until that is fixed. If it flashes with an alarm while a drain hose is attached, the hose is usually loose or kinked.
Common causes of Bucket Full / Empty
- Bucket full of water
- Bucket removed or not fully seated
- Drain hose loose at the fitting or kinked
1. Pull out the bucket and empty it. 2. Slide it back in until it seats fully. 3. If you use a drain hose, check that it is tight on the fitting. 4. Make sure the hose points straight down and is not kinked or pinched. 5. Restart the unit and see whether the light stops flashing.
- If the light keeps flashing with an empty seated bucket, the bucket switch or float may not be reading properly.
- We test how the unit senses the bucket and check the drain path.
- The price is written before work begins, and we back the repair with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Dehumidifier codes
Why does it flash when I have a hose attached?
The unit expects water to leave through the hose. If the hose is loose or kinked, water backs up into the bucket and triggers the alarm.
Is the flashing light an error code?
No, it is an indicator. It tells you why the unit has stopped, and clearing the cause usually clears the light. Hose users should recheck the hose first, because a kink is the most common cause.
The bucket is empty but it still flashes. What now?
Remove the bucket, check that nothing is caught at its seat, and slide it in firmly. If it still flashes, the sensing needs testing. Do not force the bucket if it resists.
