What Smart Assist light red means
On GE and GE Profile top-control dishwashers with Smart Assist from 2022 on, such as the GDT650, GDT670, GDP670, PDP715 and PDT795 lines, a red Smart Assist light means a potential problem has been detected with the dishwasher. The light does not name the problem itself. The SmartHQ app can show what the dishwasher found. You see the red light and may also see a code on the display.
Common causes of Smart Assist light red
- Water supply or fill issue
- Drain restriction
- Sensor or control circuit the app or display code will name
1. Open the SmartHQ app and look at the dishwasher notice to identify and troubleshoot. 2. If the dishwasher is not connected to WiFi, check the display for any codes and write them down. 3. Make sure the water supply valve under the sink is on. 4. Check that the drain hose is not kinked and the filter is clear.
- The display code or app notice tells us which circuit to test first, so keep it for the visit.
- If there is no code and the light stays red, we run through fill, drain and heat in order.
- The price is written before work begins, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Dishwasher codes
What does the red Smart Assist light mean?
The dishwasher detected a potential problem. The light does not name it by itself. The SmartHQ app or a code on the display tells you more, and either one gives us a direct place to start.
My dishwasher is not on WiFi. What do I do?
Check the display for any codes and write them down. A code gives us a direct starting point. Without WiFi the app cannot show you the details, so the display is your best source.
Is a red light the same as a yellow one?
No. Red means a potential problem was found. Yellow means a notification is waiting in the SmartHQ app and is a milder advisory. Each light has its own page here so you can compare them.
