What High Temp means

On GE upright no-frost freezers with the 7-segment electronic control, such as the FUF14, FUF17 and FUF21 models, High Temp means the freezer temperature is high. The display shows High Temp, the LED lights and the alarm sounds. It stays displayed until the set temperature is restored, and the alarm sounds again if the temperature is not restored and remains high in six hours. It also shows at first plug-in.

Common causes of High Temp

  • Door ajar or gasket not sealing
  • Large load of warm food added
  • Power interruption that let the interior warm up
  • Cooling system not keeping up with the load

1. Press Alarm Reset to silence the alarm. 2. Check the door is closed and the gasket is seated. 3. At first start-up, allow at least 4 hours before loading food. 4. Keep the door shut and watch whether the display clears. 5. If High Temp stays, move food to another freezer and call us.

What does High Temp mean on my upright freezer?

The interior is warmer than the set temperature. It shows until the freezer recovers, and the alarm repeats if it is still high after six hours.

Is High Temp normal right after plugging in?

Yes. It shows at first plug-in until a safe storage temperature is reached. Allow at least 4 hours before loading food. Give it a little time after any door opening, because the interior needs minutes to recover.

Can I silence it?

Press Alarm Reset. That only quiets the alarm. If the temperature does not come back down, the freezer needs a check. A freezer that stays warm for hours is the point where the food is at risk.
