The GDT645SYNFS is a GE ENERGY STAR dishwasher with a fingerprint-resistant finish, top controls, a stainless steel interior and a Sanitize cycle. Its drying system is Dry Boost with Fan Assist, so there is an air-moving part in addition to the heat.

That fan is the first extra thing we examine when dishes come out wet. We listen for it during the dry stage, check that it is turning and not blocked, and then test the heater. For models of this type, a clogged filter or air gap often causes a slow drain, and a stuck detergent door can leave powder in the tub, so those are on our list too. What does Fan Assist add?

It moves air through the tub during drying so moisture leaves faster. If the fan is blocked or silent, the load dries more slowly, so we test the fan separately from the heater.

Does the fingerprint-resistant finish need special care?

It needs a soft cloth and no abrasive cleaner. For service we protect the door face, and we match panel parts to the label because finishes differ.

How do you test a Sanitize cycle?

We run it and measure the water heat near the end of the wash. If the temperature falls short, we check the heating element and sensing before replacing a board.
