What P1 means
On GE Profile ClearView window and saddle air conditioners in the AHTT and PHNT series, P1 shows on the display and the unit shuts off. It means the pump has had a problem or has failed; the pump moves water that collects inside the unit. Models include the AHTT08BC, AHTT06 and PHNT10CC. The way to clear the message differs by model: SLEEP on the AHTT series and DISPLAY on the PHNT series, held for 3 seconds.
Common causes of P1
- Pump not moving collected water
- Drain path blocked or kinked
- Pump circuit or wiring
- Pump itself worn out
1. Drain the indoor side of the unit following the Draining the Unit steps in the Care and Cleaning section. 2. Hold SLEEP (AHTT) or DISPLAY (PHNT) for 3 seconds to clear the message. 3. Restart the unit. 4. If P1 comes back, leave it off; the pump needs service.
- Whether the pump is stuck, blocked or has failed stays unknown until we test it
- We check the drain path, run the pump on its own, and give a written price before replacing anything

How do I clear P1 on my ClearView AC?
After draining the indoor side, hold SLEEP on AHTT models or DISPLAY on PHNT models for 3 seconds. That clears the message from the display, but it does not remove whatever caused the pump problem.
Does P1 mean the air conditioner is leaking?
Not necessarily. It means the pump has had a problem moving water, so water can build up inside, which is why the unit shuts off. A leak would show as water outside the cabinet.
What if P1 returns after I drain the unit?
Then the pump needs service. We test the pump and the drain path, and you get the price in writing before we replace anything, with a 30-day warranty on our workmanship.
Still seeing P1?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
