What Loc Door means
On GE wall ovens and ranges with self-clean, such as the JT3000, JK3000, PT7050 and JTS5000 series, Loc Door flashes when the door is locked, or trying to lock, although self-clean was not selected. The control thinks the lock should be engaged and the oven refuses to carry on until the lock state matches. You may see the message flashing, a door that will not open and an oven that will not bake. A control reset procedure from the owner's booklet is the first step.
Common causes of Loc Door
- Door lock motor stuck in the locked position
- Lock position switch giving the wrong reading
- Self-clean selected by accident and then canceled
- Control holding a stale lock command
1. Let the oven cool completely. 2. Do not pull on the door. 3. Cancel any cycle on the control. 4. Reset the control by switching the circuit breaker off for a minute or two, then back on. 5. Wait for the lock to move. 6. If Loc Door stays, arrange a visit.
- A reset may free the lock once without fixing a sticking lock motor or switch.
- We test the lock mechanism and its wiring before replacing anything.
- A written price comes first.

Why does my GE oven flash Loc Door when I did not start self-clean?
The control believes the door lock is engaged, or should be, even though no self-clean was chosen. It keeps flashing until the lock state clears.
Should I force the door open?
No. Forcing it can damage the latch or the door. Let the oven cool, try the control reset, and call us if the door stays locked.
Is Loc Door the same as Unlock Door?
They are related lock messages. Loc Door flashes without a self-clean, while Unlock Door appears when the door will not unlock after a clean, and both involve the lock.
