What Unlock Door means
On GE wall ovens and ranges with self-clean, such as the JT3000, JK3000, PT7050 and JTS5000 series, Unlock Door appears when the door will not unlock after a self-clean cycle. The cycle has finished, but the lock has not released, so the control holds the door shut and shows the message. You may find the oven cool, the clean finished and the door still stuck. A control reset is the first step, and it often frees the lock.
Common causes of Unlock Door
- Door lock motor slow to release after the high heat
- Lock position switch not signaling release
- Cleaning cycle ended before the lock reset
- Control holding a stale lock command
1. Make sure the oven has cooled and the clean cycle has finished. 2. Do not force the door. 3. Shut off the breaker for a minute or two. 4. Restore power and wait for the lock to move. 5. Try the door gently. 6. If it stays locked, arrange a visit.
- A reset may free the door once but leave a worn lock motor to stick again.
- We test the lock, its switch and the control before replacing a part.
- A written price comes before any repair.

What does Unlock Door mean on my GE oven?
The door did not unlock after a self-clean. The cycle ended, but the lock mechanism or the control still thinks the door must stay shut.
How do I free the door after self-clean?
Make sure the oven is cool, then turn the breaker off for a minute or two and back on. Wait for the lock to move before trying the door.
Can I use the oven if Unlock Door keeps appearing?
The oven may bake, but a lock that keeps sticking can trap the door shut, so we recommend having the lock mechanism and its switch tested soon.
