What E01 means
On GE 70-pint dehumidifiers with a built-in pump, E01 shows when Pump Out Mode is switched on but water is not being pumped out. In this mode the unit sends collected water through a hose instead of filling the bucket. When the pump cannot move the water, the control stops the cycle and shows the code. You will notice the machine has stopped removing moisture and the bucket may fill or the hose may stay dry. Some listings write the code as E0 or E01.
Common causes of E01
- Pump hose kinked, blocked or routed uphill beyond the pump's reach
- Bucket not fully seated so the pump cannot draw from it
- Pump or its float sensing a condition it cannot clear
- Debris or mineral buildup in the pump path
1. Unplug the dehumidifier. 2. Check the pump hose for kinks, clogs and a clear exit. 3. Remove the bucket and seat it firmly again. 4. Empty any water left in the bucket. 5. Plug the unit back in and restart Pump Out Mode. If E01 returns, switch to bucket draining and arrange a visit.
- A clear hose and seated bucket rule out the simple causes, but not the pump itself.
- We test whether the pump runs and moves water before suggesting any repair.
- Pump repair on a dehumidifier is sometimes not worth the cost, and we say so up front.
Other Dehumidifier codes
What does E01 mean on a 70-pint GE dehumidifier?
Pump Out Mode is on, but the built-in pump is not moving water out. The control stops the cycle and displays E01 until the water path is clear.
Can I keep using the dehumidifier with E01?
You can turn off Pump Out Mode and empty the bucket by hand. That avoids the pump, but the code will keep returning if you switch Pump Out Mode on again.
Is E01 the same as P1?
They describe the same condition on different models. E01 is for the 70-pint units with a built-in pump, while P1 appears on the 50-pint models.
