What Blue ring but reservoir full means
On the first-generation GE Profile Opal OPAL01 (OPAL01GEPKT, OPAL01GENSS and OPAL01GENKT), the round button has a display ring. Blue normally means the unit needs water. If the ring is blue while the reservoir is full, the ice maker is not working properly: it cannot move or sense the water it has, so ice stops even though water is in the tank.
Common causes of Blue ring but reservoir full
- Water not being pumped to the ice-making path
- Water level sensing not reading the full tank
- Mineral buildup affecting the pump or sensor
1. Put the Opal in Cleaning mode with the rear switch. 2. Press Power and run it for 3 minutes. 3. Watch whether water pumps and the ring changes. 4. If water does not pump or blue persists, contact Opal support or call us.
- If the Cleaning mode does not move water, the pump or the sensor is the area we test.
- We check water movement, the sensor and scale.
- We give a written price before work.

Why is the ring blue when the tank is full?
Blue normally means add water. With a full reservoir, it means the ice maker is not working properly and cannot use the water it has.
What can I try?
Switch to Cleaning mode with the rear switch, press Power and run it for 3 minutes. If water does not pump, stop there. Make sure the rear switch goes back to its normal position afterward.
Is it the pump?
Possibly, or the sensor. We test both before we name a part. We would also look for scale around the pump, since that can cause the same behavior in these units.
