What Optimizing Cooktime means
On GE Profile Advantium speedcook ovens such as the PSA2201RSS, PSB9120SFSS and PWB7030SLSS, Optimizing Cooktime appears in the first seconds of every cycle. The oven checks the supply voltage and adjusts the cook time up for low voltage or down for high voltage. This is normal. It exists so the food cooks properly even if the home's voltage varies. There is nothing to fix.
Common causes of Optimizing Cooktime
- Normal voltage check at the start of a cycle
- Supply voltage slightly high or low
- Nothing wrong
1. Do nothing and wait a few seconds. 2. Let the cycle start by itself. 3. Keep the door closed during the check. 4. If the message never ends, tell us what you see and which program you chose. 5. Note whether it also happens on a different program.
- If the message stays on for more than a few seconds every cycle, whether the voltage sensing is working stays unknown
- We check the supply voltage and the control, and normal startup messages need no repair

What does Optimizing Cooktime mean?
The oven is checking the supply voltage at the start of the cycle and adjusting the cook time for low or high voltage, so the food comes out the way the program intends.
Does it change my cooking?
It may adjust the time slightly, so that food comes out the same on days when the voltage runs a little low or high. You will usually not notice the difference.
Do I need to call about this message?
No, it is a normal message. Call only if it never goes away or the oven will not move on to the cooking part of the cycle after it appears.
