What F9 / FC means
On GE, Profile and Cafe wall ovens with electronic oven controls, such as the JT3000, JK3000, PT7050 and JTS5000 series, F9 and FC point to the door lock circuit. Something in that circuit has stopped working as the control expects, whether the lock motor, its switch or the wiring. You may see the code, a door that will not latch or unlatch, and a self-clean that will not run. A door that stays locked after cleaning is a common version of this.
Common causes of F9 / FC
- Door lock motor not moving the latch
- Lock position switch not reading correctly
- Wiring to the lock loose or heat-damaged
- Control board not driving the lock
1. Let the oven cool fully before touching the door. 2. Do not force the door open. 3. Switch the circuit breaker or fuse off for a minute or two, then restore power. 4. Wait for the lock to cycle. 5. Try a short bake with the door closed. 6. If F9 or FC returns, book a visit.
- A reset may free the latch once without fixing a worn lock mechanism.
- We test the lock, its switch and the wiring before replacing a part.
- A written price comes first.
Other Wall Oven codes
What are F9 and FC reporting on a GE wall oven?
They report an issue in the door lock circuit. The lock motor, its position switch or the wiring is not behaving the way the control expects.
What if the door is locked and I cannot open it?
Let the oven cool, then try the breaker reset. Do not force the door. If it stays locked, we release the lock safely during a visit.
Are F9 and FC the same?
They are two displays for the same area. Both point to the door lock circuit, and we test that circuit whichever one appears, starting with the lock motor and its position switch.

A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
