What 32 means

On the current GE Zoneline AZ95 single-package vertical units (AZ95E and AZ95H), code 32 is a two-way thermostat sensor error. Occupancy, temperature or humidity sensing at the thermostat is not trustworthy, so the unit ignores that data and relies on its own internal sensors. The room still heats and cools. You may notice comfort that follows the unit rather than the wall control. Older AZ90 and AZ91 units do not show this code.

Common causes of 32

  • Thermostat occupancy, temperature or humidity sensor misreporting
  • Thermostat connection or calibration
  • Unit falling back to internal sensors
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press and hold MODE, then press AUX, to read the stored entries; -- means none. 2. AUX clears what the display listed; other keys exit without changing anything. 3. Confirm the room still heats or cools as you set it. 4. Check the wall thermostat display for odd readings. 5. Report persistent odd readings to your property manager.

! Why to stop there
  • The thermostat sensors and the data link can each be the source.
  • We compare thermostat readings with the unit's own and check the link.
  • The price is written before any work, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
3232 questions
Does code 32 stop the unit?

No. It keeps running using its internal sensors, so comfort should continue even if the wall control data is ignored. Local controls on the unit remain available.

What does the thermostat's occupancy sensor do?

It tells the system whether someone is in the room, which can drive energy-saving setbacks. When that data is ignored, the setback may not work.

Is it related to code 31?

They are related only by the thermostat. Code 31 is a lost link, while code 32 is bad sensor data on a link that still works.
