What Control is LOCKED means
On GE Profile wall ovens with an LCD text display, such as the PT7800, PK7800 and PT9800 series, the message Control is LOCKED means the control has been locked, so pressing pads will not change settings. This is a user feature meant to prevent accidental changes or use by children, and it does not point to a failure. The oven will accept commands again once the lock is released from the Settings pad.
Common causes of Control is LOCKED
- Control lock turned on from the Settings pad
- Pad pressed accidentally during cleaning
- Lock set earlier by another household member
1. Press and hold the Settings pad for 3 seconds to unlock. 2. Wait for the message to clear before choosing a mode. 3. Wipe the display with a slightly damp cloth, not a spray. 4. If you want the lock on, repeat the same pad press later.
- If the message returns on its own or the pad no longer responds, we check the keypad and its connection.
- We also confirm the oven is not locking because of a stuck pad.

How do I unlock the control?
Press and hold the Settings pad for 3 seconds. The message clears and the oven takes commands again. If nothing happens, wipe the screen dry and try once more.
Is Control is LOCKED a problem?
No. It means the lock was turned on, either on purpose or by an accidental press. It protects against unwanted changes and does not mean the oven is damaged or needs a repair.
Can I cook while the control is locked?
Settings cannot be changed while the control is locked. Unlock it first with the Settings pad, then choose your cooking mode and temperature as usual from the display.
