Water Softener & Filtration Repair in Houston
We repair GE water softeners and filtration systems that stop softening, leave salt or discolored water, run constantly or leak. We check the valve, the brine system and the controls.
Common water softener & filtration problems we fix
In the order we see them across Houston homes.
Water feels hard again
Salt tank stays full or is mushy
System runs a regeneration constantly
Rusty or cloudy water at the tap
Low pressure through the system
Leak at the valve or drain line
A GE water softener exchanges the minerals that cause hardness for sodium or potassium using a bed of resin, then regenerates with brine from a salt tank. A control valve and timer or meter decide when to regenerate. Whole-house filtration systems add cartridges that catch sediment or chlorine.
Houston-area water ranges widely, from treated city supply with moderate hardness to well water with iron and minerals. Scale and iron foul resin and injectors faster, and a softener in a garage or closet may be set off by heat or an interrupted power supply. A bridged salt tank is a common surprise.
We test water hardness, check the salt, brine line and injector, inspect the control valve and power, and look at drain and bypass connections. You receive the finding and a written price before work.

Why is my softener not softening?
The salt level, a brine tank bridge, a clogged injector, a stuck valve or exhausted resin could be involved. A hardness test and a look at the brine system tell us where to start.
How often does salt need to be added?
It depends on water use and hardness. Check the tank regularly and keep it above the water line as the manual describes. A mushy salt layer may need clearing.
Is rusty water from the softener or the pipes?
It can be either. Iron in well water or aging pipes shows up as rust, and a softener may not remove all of it. We test where the color appears before concluding.
