What Fill light blinking means
On GE top-load washers without a text display, 2019 and newer (the GTW335, GTW465, GTW500 and GTW525), a blinking Fill light has two readings. Two blinks mean the washer did not sense water collecting in the tub during fill, so water is not entering. Three blinks mean water has sat in the washer 15 minutes with the lid open. The light can also flash after a pause longer than 24 hours or when the machine stopped itself. A 4-minute control lock-out follows while the pump runs. It is the no-display twin of H2O SUPPLY and CAnCELEd.
Common causes of Fill light blinking
- Hot or cold supply valve partly closed
- Kinked or clogged fill hose or inlet screen
- Water inlet valve not delivering water to the tub
- Lid left open during a long pause
1. Count the blinks, two or three. 2. Confirm both the hot and cold supply valves behind the washer are fully on. 3. Wait out the 4-minute lock-out. Unplugging the washer restarts that timer, so leave it plugged in. 4. Close the lid and begin the cycle again. 5. If it blinks again, stop and let us check it.
- With the valves open and hoses straight, repeated two-blink events lead us to the inlet screens and the water inlet valve, which we inspect.
- Three blinks that return even with the lid handled correctly point us to the lid switch circuit.
- We give you the price in writing first, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.

What is the difference between two blinks and three blinks?
Two blinks mean the washer did not see water arriving during fill. Three blinks mean water was left standing with the lid open for 15 minutes. The count tells us which direction to check first.
Why does the washer lock me out for 4 minutes?
After this event the control holds off for about four minutes while the pump runs. Unplugging restarts that timer, so waiting it out with the washer plugged in is quicker.
Is this the same as H2O SUPPLY on display models?
Yes. A Fill light flashing on a no-display washer corresponds to H2O SUPPLY on models that scroll text, so the first checks are the same: both supply valves and the hoses.
