What Spin Light Blinking means

On GE electronic-control washers from 2017 onward, a blinking Spin light means the washer detected an out-of-balance load. It corrects the imbalance on its own and continues, but it may not reach full spin speed. You may find clothes wetter than normal at the end of the cycle. This is a load issue much more often than a repair issue.

Common causes of Spin Light Blinking

  • Load bunched on one side of the tub
  • Single heavy item such as a rug or comforter
  • Washer not level on the floor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. If the load is wetter than normal, open the lid and spread the laundry evenly. 2. Run Drain and Spin or Spin. 3. Wash bulky items in smaller loads. 4. Check that the washer sits level and does not rock. 5. If the Spin light keeps blinking, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • If the load is evenly spread and the light still blinks, a level or suspension issue may be involved.
  • We check that the washer sits level and the drum moves freely.
  • We recommend not overloading in the meantime.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
Spin Light BlinkingSpin Light Blinking questions
Why is my Spin light blinking?

The washer detected an out-of-balance load. It tries to correct the imbalance on its own and carry on, but it may not reach full spin speed, so clothes can come out wetter than usual.

How do I fix it?

Open the lid, spread the laundry evenly around the drum, and run Drain and Spin or Spin. Wash bulky items like comforters in smaller loads, which makes the washer much less likely to go out of balance.

It keeps blinking with small loads. Why?

The washer may not be level, or something inside may be affecting how the drum moves. We check the leveling and the drum motion, and give you a written price before any repair.
