Cooktop Repair in Houston

We repair GE, Profile and Café gas, electric radiant and induction cooktops. Burners that will not light, zones that stay cold and touch controls that stop responding are traced one circuit at a time.

GE cooktops fall into three families: gas burners with spark ignition, smooth-top electric with radiant elements, and induction, which heats the pan itself with a magnetic field. Each has its own wear points, and a cooktop sits in a countertop cut-out with a cabinet below, so access and ventilation matter.

In Houston kitchens, boil-overs and humidity are the usual culprits. Spills seep into burner ports and under knobs, steam condenses on touch controls, and induction cooling fans clog with dust. Gas cooktops also need the correct supply pressure and tight connections.

We start with the zone you describe, confirm the model and the pan you use, clean and test the burner or element, and check the control or power board only when that points there. You get a plain explanation of the sign and what it does not prove.

05Cooktop questions
Why does only one burner fail while the rest work?

A single burner points to that burner port, its igniter or its element or coil rather than the whole cooktop. We clean and test that one zone before looking at shared parts such as the control.

Why does my induction cooktop shut off mid-cooking?

Pan size or material, overheating of the glass, a fan problem or a control issue could be involved. We check the cookware first, then airflow and the power board.

Can a cracked glass top be repaired?

A crack in the glass generally means the surface needs to be replaced, and we recommend stopping use because liquid can reach the electronics. We confirm the model and give a written price for the new top.
